ATHLETICS:
· Congratulations to our Softball Lady Cats and Varsity Baseball teams for their wins this past weekend. Great job! Today, the freshmen baseball team will play away at Ascension Christian.
· Congratulations to the Wildcat Robotics Team #18388 for competing this weekend in the Louisiana Regional Championship!
· The boys’ golf team is scheduled to play at Webb Park.
· Tonight, our #2 Lady Cats basketball team will play here at home against Mandeville in the regional round of the playoffs. The game starts at 6pm and doors open at 5pm. Admission is $4 for students! Please come out and support your Lady Cats in their playoff run.
CONGRATULATIONS:
· Congratulations to the Walker High MCJROTC drill teams. MCJROTC drill teams competed over the weekend in the Pershing Rifles Invitational Drill Competition against 11 other teams. Walker High MCJROTC drill teams finished 2nd Place Overall. Their 2nd place finish earned them the opportunity to present the colors at the LSU baseball game on March 8th. Congratulations cadets on a job well done!
FFA WEEK:
Thank you to Molly Britt for today’s announcements. She is the chapter secretary of Walker FFA chapter here at Walker High School.
This week is FFA week. Each year National FFA Week is a time for FFA members to host activities that raise awareness about the role the FFA plays in the development of agriculture's future leaders and the importance of agricultural education. There are several opportunities in the FFA such as scholarships, speaking and leadership skills, career development and personal growth opportunities. The FFA will be holding several events to celebrate.
Each day on the announcements there will be a trivia question for you to answer. Each day an FFA emblem and a cow emblem will be hidden on campus for you to search for and find. The winners will receive a prize. If you find the cow emblem or FFA emblem, bring it to the Ag building, Room 5004 to get your prize!
Today, Tomorrow, and Friday the FFA will be hosting Ag Olympic games and activities at all lunch shifts. Today is Dummy Roping. Come out and try your hand at roping. Those who participate in these Ag events will win prizes!
Today is National Days of service for FFA week. This means that today is dedicated to community service! FFA values community service and encourages every FFA chapter to participate in building up their community in any way possible. Thousands of FFA chapters put on community service events every year. These small acts of service can help to exert an influence in our home and community!
Today, Walker FFA members will stay after school for our chapter meeting to participate in our own community service event to give back to WHS!
ALL STUDENTS:
· Today and tomorrow, the Green & White Cookie Site will be closed. They will reopen on Wednesday.
· ACT Fee Waivers are available for 10th Grade students AND any Senior that scored below a 20. There is a limited number so they will be given out on a first come first, served basis. The deadline to register for the April ACT test is Friday, February 28 at ACT.ORG.
· Our Theatre Dept. would like to extend an open invitation to anyone who is interested in a part or being an extra in the upcoming Great Gatsby production. The open cast call is this Friday after school. For more information, please see Mr. Mozingo in the Theater room.

o Every WHS student must do his/her own clearance request and purchase his/her own ticket. Tickets go on sale March 6th.
o Check your email! Just because you request a clearance DOES NOT MEAN you are cleared! You will get an email that indicates either you are clear or what needs to be done in order to be cleared! Several emails have been sent stating that you owe fees which must be taken care of before your ticket will be released.
o All school fees must be paid in order for you to purchase a prom ticket.
