ATHLETICS:

·         Congratulations to the Lady Cats softball team for their 9-5 win over Denham Springs.  The Lady Cats play again today at Northlake Christian.

·         Today, the JV & freshmen baseball teams will play away at St. Amant starting at 4:30pm. The varsity baseball team will play tomorrow at 1pm at St. Amant.

·         THANK YOU!!!!  To All the Walker High staff ….  the cafeteria, guidance, administration, teachers, coaches and MC JROTC cadets and leaders that came out to support our Track Team last night at the Wildcat Invitational.  It was a HUGE SUCCESS.  Several visiting teams complimented our school on a well run track meet. Out of the 16 teams participating, we had some great finishes last night:

o   4x200 Relay – Nyla Riggins, Danijah Goza & Talayjah Goza & LaShantae Clay came in 3rd place in the girls’ division and CadeMichael Ard, Jamarcus Neyland, Allyn Weathersby & Jacob Mackey came in 3rd place in the boys’ division.

o   Shot Put – Bryson Thomas came in 3rd place

o   High Jump – Logan Cookmeyer came in 1st place in the girls’ division and in the boys’ division Kameron Rheams came in 3rd place and Caden Jones came in 1st place.

o   Pole Vault – Grace Ross came in 1st place in the girl’s division and in the boys’ division Rhoby Graham came in 2nd place and Eli Hegwood came in 1st place.

o   Javelin – Troy Sylve came in 3rd place

o   100 Meters – Nyla Riggins came in 3rd place in the girls’ division and Jacob Mackey came in 1st place in the boys’ division.

o   Discuss – Bryson Thomas came in 1st place

o   200 meters – Jacob Mackey came in 1st place

o   400 meters – Allyn Weathersby came in 1st place

o   1 mile & 2 mile – Peyton Levy came in 1st place and Candilynn Vega came in 2nd place in the 1 mile.

o   100 meter hurdles – Amiah Holmes-Walker came in 3rd place

o   4x100 relay – Emily Lentz, Nyla Riggins, Talayjah Goza, and LaShantae Clay came in 3rd place in the girls’ division and Jonathan Musso, Jacob Mackey, Caden Jones CadeMichael Ard came in 2nd place in the boys’ division.

o   4x800 relay – Peyton Levy, Oren Hibbard, Logan Vulgamore and Tristan Gibbons came in 2nd place

o   Jacob Mackey was the Outstanding Track Athlete.

o   The boys’ team were the 1st Place Track Champions.

ALL STUDENTS:

·         Today is Homeroom Day.  Students will report to homeroom after 1st block.

·         The Guidance office is still closed today, but will reopen on Monday.  Teachers, please only send a student to Guidance if it is an emergency or if a counselor calls for the student.  Students may email counselors with any questions.

·         Today is the last day to get papers turned in for Macho Man volleyball! Online payments are due by next Monday! We will have a short meeting for all the boys signed up right after school next Wednesday. They will meet their coaches, get practice schedules, etc. 

·         Prom News – “Last Chance” Tickets are on sale for $30 and will be on sale until next Wednesday. Prom information sheets are still available at the Wildcat Window and at the Annex. If you have questions, come to the Annex.

·         Juniors & Seniors - Voting for Prom King & Queen has started and will go through Sunday. The ballots were sent to Juniors & Seniors through KiNVO.  The finalists will be announced next week.
